Welcome from George

Photography is a journey of people, places, and things...all captured in a moment by the photographer's lens. Actually, it's a journey of stories., and just like a writer always has a pen and notepad with him, my camera goes wherever I do. One never knows what might be waiting just around the bend.

I am a beach bum at heart and a diehard Jimmy Buffet fan. Also, I have always been enchanted by the beauty of the ocean and the ambiance of coastal towns.

Many of my photos try to capture the 'beach time' so many of us desire. Boats fascinate me, too... shrimp boats and oyster boats, the colorful masts of sailboats racing, Maine kayaks or the colorful gondolas of Venice. WATER always calls to me…whether it’s an ocean or a Southern lake or the waters of the Northwest. Somewhere deep inside me the rhythms and sounds of water and waves sing a special song for me.

Vibrant colors also are pretty much a mainstay in my photographs, too. During my thirty-year career in public relations, I learned much about color and composition from newspaper photographers. They also taught me to see the possibility of photographs where others might not...they developed my photographic eye, so to speak.

My journey as a photographer started with a set of multi-colored Adirondack chairs near my St. Joe Beach, Florida beach 'vacation' home in the Florida Panhandle. That photograph turned into Gossip Session, named because it reminded me of a “the girls’ weekend” group just sitting around looking out to sea and talking about anything and everything.

Capturing the beauty of our world in photographs is also a special quest for me, one that I do in part, because our daughter, Amelia, died in 1995. She was only seventeen and had so much life left to live, so many things to do and see and places to go. Often I take photographs of our world for her, because she didn’t have a chance to see all that she should have. I want to share them with you because she would want you to see all the beauty around us each day and to tell you to take it all in.
